Do you need…

- A nutritionist to help you develop the right diet to fuel your training?

- To figure out why the weight is not shifting?

- A running program which acknowledges where you're at?

- A program suited to your current fitness level?

Conor was assigned as my "personal trainer" as part of the Gym's Introductory Package. I admit that I thought it was probably unnecessary as I had no fitness goals that I wanted to achieve except avoiding complete "blob out" status.

Conor is certainly the only reason that I am still putting in as much effort as I do. The knowledge that someone else is waiting for me to turn up provides a huge incentive to be able to walk out of the office and postpone clients to later. It also provides an incentive to go at least one other day in the week as I figure I might as well try for some improvement between sessions.

What has been exciting, however, is that I can track improvements. Sticking to a programme for a period of a few weeks but increasing the weight, or number of repeats, or adding a further element has been an education in what I can achieve, especially with those exercises that the first time we tried them I thought I would never be able to do it.

Thinking about getting back into exercise?

We can help you get motivated about being active and seeing results.

Whether you've "never really got exercise" or "just feel unfit" we can help.

It's easy to go to the gym every now and then or go out for a walk when the weather suits, but until you get some routine going you're always going to find exercise a chore.

Getting back to exercise with STS fitness could not be easier

First we'll find out what your situation is and if there's any form of exercise you have enjoyed in the past.

I believe that almost any form of exercise can be called a sport, whether it be golf, dancing or lawn bowls. The main criteria is that your need to feel a sense of pride when you notice improvement.

Once we've decided on your new sport we can figure out when you're going to fit training into your busy schedule.

We'll do a few sessions to look at what your priorities should be in getting prepared for your first social sporting event, then lay down a plan for improving them.

We'll discuss how much support you'd like from STS Fitness and who else might be able to help make your new sport really catch on.

STS Favourite Sports Include:

Walking is a great way to get back into fitness
Walking - Simple as it sounds walking is a great way of preparing yourself to run. If you haven't run much before then build up your walking fitness before breaking into a jog.

Running - Like walking, running can happen anywhere. It can be hard on the joints so must be progressed slowly but if you can learn to pace yourself as a runner you'll learn to love running.

Triathlon - Having three sports to train for at once is great as you know you can train regardless of how sore you are from a previous session. Sore from a run? Go for a ride or swim. Sore from a swim? Go for a run. Beginner distances start from just a 250m swim, 10km bike and 2.5km run so don't tell me you could never finish a triathlon.

Touch Rugby is great fun and keeps you on the ball
Touch Rugby - Touch is great for those of us who like team sports but don't want to give up half their Saturday. Fun and always huge potential for improvement, touch will get you moving again.

Badminton - The better you get at hitting the shuttle the more running you'll do. This game will take time to get the technique, but once you do your rallies get longer and you can start moving around the court, getting fit.

While this looks hard, weight lifting is no harder to learn than other sports and can be just as fulfilling
Weight lifting - You could become a competitive weight lifter if you really wanted, but just keeping track of your progressing reps, sets and weights turns "going to the gym" into training with a purpose.

There's just as much to learn in becoming a good weight lifter as any of the sports mentioned above. Lifting weights will help you in all of the above sports, opening your options for taking on more sport.
